How to Transfer Voice Memos from iPhone to Computer without iTunes

Apple users usually find great comfort in the synchronization feature offered in all of the company’s products. However, where Apple to Apple syncing creates ease and convenience for storing data fast in more than one device, from Apple to other non-apple gadgets, transferring data becomes quite a nuisance.

You’re probably here too because you want to know your options for transferring something, like voice memos from iPhone to your PC without iTunes. So, what are the many ways you can try? Let’s see!

1- Use cloud services:

In your iPhone, you can find the options to set up cloud drives that allow you to upload files of any kind which you can access later from your computer with the option of downloading. Cloud drives like the iCloud, oneDrive or Google drive make it easier to transfer voice memos from one device to another. You can set up whichever service suits you best.

  • If you’re a Google user, then picking the Google drive may come in handy. You may go to the voice memos app and select the one you want to transfer. You’ll spot the three dots in a circle on the right side. Click on that icon and you’ll be presented with options like copy, share and so on. You may select the “Share” option and choose the Google drive’s icon to upload your file. Then you may open the Google drive from the web on your PC or laptop to download the voice memo.
  • The same process applies to Onedrive. So, if you’re more comfortable with the Microsoft apps and use outlook, then follow the same steps to complete the transfer.
  • On the contrary, if you use iCloud, instead of using the “Share” option, go for the “Save to Files” option in the voice memos app and then select the iCloud drive for moving the file. The rest of the steps are the same.

To set up any of the drives, you would have to put in the account information. For instance, in iCloud, you may enter your Apple ID, in Google, the gmail ID and in OneDrive, you may put in your Outlook ID to sign up.

2- Use Emails:

You could go for the traditional method which is sending an email to yourself with the files attached. The process is easy and straightforward. You have to select a recording and click on the three dots, as mentioned above. Then, select “share” to choose an email through which you’d like to email the voice memo to yourself. Once done, you may open your email account from the PC and download the file.

There may be a limit on the file’s size. So, if you attach a file that’s too large or attach many files that exceed the limit, then either you may compress the file to reduce its size or attach one file at a time to avoid surpassing the limit.

3- Instant Messaging apps:

Instant messaging apps like LINE, Whatsapp, Zoom, Skype, Discord etc., allow easy transferring of texts, videos and voice notes, etc. You may follow the same steps we mentioned above to share the voice memos via the Whatsapp or LINE app. Once you send it to the chosen contact, open the app from the PC. Download the app if you haven’t already. Scan your QR code from the cell phone or sign up to get it working on the PC and download your voice memo from there.

Final Thoughts:

There are multiple alternatives you can use to move voice memos from iPhone to the computer without the help of iTunes. So, if you cannot install iTunes on your PC for some reason or if it lags a lot, you now have a bunch of other options to get the job done. We recommend that you use a cloud service for quick transfer but depending on what suits you best, you can choose any solution given above.
