Close the display frame of your laptop on Windows 11:

  4. Scroll down to “When I close the lid” and select “Do nothing” from the drop-down menu for both the “On battery” and “Plugged in” options.
  5. Tapping on “Save changes” will implement the new settings.

Once you have changed the settings to “Do nothing,” you can connect your laptop to a second display and close the lid. Your laptop will continue to run, and the external monitor will display the Windows desktop.
