If you are a gamer, professional video editor or looking for high spec PCs, you might have heard about Alienware from friends or the internet. Dell owns the Alienware brand and its specialised in manufacturing high spec desktop computers and laptops. Recently a customer from South London visited our website chat and explained how he is facing a problem with his Alienware Desktop PC. it’s getting shut off automatically while playing games or working on video editing software. We immediately requested the customer to turn off the PC and please don’t use it until it has been looked after by a Gaming PC expert. Alienware desktop pc was having an overheating problem which is the mother of all the issues.

Geeks Callout’s Alienware Gaming Laptop Repair Specialist Solved the Issue

We quickly arrange a free collection from South London and have it delivered to our lab in Epsom. The customer also requested to have complete internal components checks apart from overheating to make sure the rest of the PC is fine. Our expert opened it up and found a lot of dust inside, fans were quite filthy, Alienware liquid cooling system pipes were getting quite hot. The first step was to clean the computer dust properly. The next step was to check if the processor thermal pasting was still in good health. Since PC was not been able to breathe properly, we found the thermal pasting was completely dried out. This is the main reason why Dell Alienware gaming PC was getting heat up. Our expert replaced the thermal compound and start the PC. Alienware PC was taking slightly longer than expected while booting up to the windows 10. So the next step would be to run a couple of software to understand how the system is behaving, check the overheating, graphic card, SSDs and overall PC health.

After running overheating test, the results were not very impressive. Ran checks on the hard drive and SSD and it turned out the SSD health is also not very good, it was just 40% good. This explains why Alienware was taking longer to boot. Before running the test on Graphic Card Geforce RTX 2080, our expert did manage to clean the fan and installed a new thermal compound. This has done the magic and the Graphic card benchmark test came out excellent. So now it’s time to let the customer know what exactly we have diagnosed and what is required to replace it to make it work better and smoother.

Our gaming expert called the customer and explained that New H60 corsair water cooling system is required since the old one is not working properly. Secondly, the NVME express 250GB SSD is also not in a good health which needs to be replaced. We did get a green signal from the customer to replace whatever is required to run the PC properly. Our Alienware gaming expert technician managed to replaced the cooling system and replaced the normal NVME express chip with a high-performance SSD Samsung Pro NVME express chip which made the computer run faster than before.

The whole job and parts replacement took around 2 days. On the 3rd day, our expert ran all the checks again, this time cooling system, NVME SSD and Graphic card showed excellent performance. On the same day as our free delivery service, the PC was returned and the customer has been absolutely over the moon to see the upgraded PC performance. No more restarting, freezing or FPS drop issues anymore.
